Kevin B. Waide, Since graduating from Central College in Pella, Iowa, Kevin Waide has  spent the majority of his career in the financial arena. He brings a wide array of professional business experience and expertise to Business Acquisitions, Ltd. Before joining Business Acquisitions, Ltd. as a Mergers and Acquisitions Specialist, Kevin was Business Development Director for a large public accounting firm in the Denver area. His primary responsibilities included assisting business owners in better understanding their company’s financial condition. He accomplished this by performing business analysis, tax reviews and operating valuations. During this period, he had the opportunity to meet with over 1,100 different business owners in the Denver metro area.

Under his direction and expertise, the firm became the second largest practice, nationally, in a network of over 300 affiliate offices. Prior to working in the accounting profession, Kevin spent fourteen years in the investment banking business in Colorado and Iowa, holding titles of Vice-President and Director of Corporate Finance. While serving as Director of Corporate Finance for two firms in Colorado, he structured and syndicated nine initial public stock offerings (IPO’s). In addition, he raised private capital for Limited Partnership Investments and Private Placement Stock Offerings while managing the personal investments of numerous clients. Currently, he serves as an advisor to a Denver-based publicly traded company and has previously served as a Board of Director member for a publicly held business.

Kevin is licensed with the Colorado Real Estate Commission and is an active member of the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA). He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Association of Business Intermediaries (CABI) and holds the title of Vice-President. His combined background in accounting, marketing and corporate finance brings a unique blend of experience and talent to the mergers and acquisitions industry.  In his leisure time, Kevin enjoys spending time with his three sons, Dakota, Jordan and Alex and with his wife Peggy, of thirty years. His hobbies include fishing, hunting and competing his German Shorthaired Pointers in field trial events, both regionally and nationally.  


James J. Johnston places a premium on his quality of service and relationship building. Brokering is a match-making business, and Jim loves to bring people together. He believes that in addition to the price and terms of a deal, a successful transaction finishes with the parties trusting each other and transferring the business’s goodwill into the future. All transactions have delicate moments, and Jim’s varied professional background enables him to work with diverse cliental and bridge gaps between people in order to get transactions closed. Prior to working at Business Acquisitions Ltd, he taught English, math and other subjects around America and overseas.

He has also developed a passion for artisanal cheese as a professional cheese maker for a Colorado company. Jim graduated from Kenyon College (Gambier, Ohio) and Kent Denver School and has completed graduate coursework at the University of Denver.

He is a passionate member of Rotary International through the Denver Rotary Club, and he is an active squash player at the Denver Athletic Club. He serves on the board of
The Gift of Giving, a non-profit organization that enables people to better give gifts that truly make a difference. He has completed two marathons and is a member of the Denver Botanic Gardens with his wife, Pam, who runs a landscape design practice. Richard S. "Rick" Padrnos, Prior to joining Business Acquisitions, Rick Padrnos was a commercial and business banker for 27 years.  During this time he provided financing to hundreds of businesses including service, retail, restaurants, distribution, manufacturing, construction, high tech, and franchise opportunities.  As a lender, Rick facilitated many business acquisition loans for his banking clients through various Small Business Administration (SBA) lending programs.  His working knowledge of loan opportunities through the SBA and USDA is invaluable to both business sellers and buyers.   Currently he is a substantial shareholder and past Director for a community bank on the western slope of Colorado.

 

Rick has a long track record of community involvement.  He was a member of the Aspen and Glenwood Springs Rotary Clubs, President of the Basalt Chamber of Commerce for eight years, Director for Neighbor to Neighbor and the Garfield County United Way, and a Big Brother for Youth Zone.  He is currently President of Let’s Talk, a philanthropic networking group.

 

Rick graduated from the University of Colorado with degrees in marketing and real estate and holds an MBA in finance from the University of San Diego.  He graduated with honors from the Pacific Coast Banking School.  Rick lives and works on the western slope of Colorado where he enjoys the many recreational opportunities available in the area.




Ron Blake, As an accomplished finance, sales and audit professional, Ron brings a unique blend of business ownership and 25 years of experience to Business Acquisitions, LTD.  Before joining Business Acquisitions, LTD, Ron owned a successful custom sign business.  His firsthand knowledge of the challenges of owning a business lends itself well to working with business sellers and buyers.  Ron sold his company in late 2008.  Prior to being self-employed, Ron spent over 20 years with a Fortune 100 company.  In his last position he served as General Sales Manager for the division with sales of $250 million.  Before serving as General Sales Manager, Ron held the position of Business Finance Manager his responsibilities included the supervision of accounting, credit and real estate. Previous positions included serving as Audit Manager for Field Auditing with the responsibility for planning, developing and directing internal auditing policies and procedures in North America.  Educationally, Ron has a BA in Business Administration, from Western State College of Gunnison, Colorado.  He maintains the designation of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and is a licensed Real Estate Agent.   Ron has also been active in several professional organizations including the Institute of Internal Auditors, Business Financial Professionals Association and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants where he held the positions of President, Vice President and Secretary.


 
Peg J. Johnston, the founding partner of BALtd, started doing business brokerage full time January 1983. As the former owner of an electrical contracting firm, Peg understood personally the complexities of purchasing, operating and selling a business. Business brokerage has been a passion for Peg, helping business owners and potential purchasers clarify and meet their needs. Peg is a Certified Business Intermediary (CBI), from the IBBA and a member of CABI. She earned a BA and Cum Laude with Honors and Distinction in Mathematics from Colby College in Waterville, Maine.

 

The Denver Business Journal and NAWBO recognized Peg, August 2002, as one of ten “Outstanding Women in Business” and the winner of the “Jean Yancey Small Business Award.” Active in the community, Peg has served on numerous Boards - NAWBO, CWLC, Women’s Equity Fund, Boy Scouts of America-Explorers, Rotary Int’l District 5450, Denver Rotary Club, Arapahoe Community College, Community Resources, Inc., Denver Athletic Club, and was a volunteer for Denver Kids, Inc. for 6  years.


 
Patricia H. Williams, as the owner of Business Acquisitions, Ltd., takes responsibility for the management, direction and growth of the company. She has an undergraduate degree in Business Management and an MBA with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Pat has 25 years varied business management experience in the Denver area including property management construction related leasing and sales, consulting and legal administration. She has owned a successful on-line retail business for 12 years.

Her experience in management, finance, administration and marketing are an asset to Business Acquisitions, Ltd.



In Memoriam

Gary D. Williams was a partner with Business Acquisitions, Ltd. since December, 1991. He had been a Business Intermediary since 1987. He received his Mechanical Engineering degree with honors from Virginia Tech and his MBA with an emphasis in finance from the University of Colorado at Denver.

In addition to his commitment to Business Acquisitions, Ltd., Gary was very involved in several professional organizations including the International Business Brokers Association and the Colorado Association of Business Intermediaries. He was also active in a number of service organizations including the Denver Cherry Creek Rotary and Boy Scouts and was a long time member of Greenwood Community Church.

Gary was killed in a private plane accident on February 1, 2009. His intelligence, unique sense of humor, integrity and zest for life helped shape Business Acquisitions into the organization it is today and will continue to shape it as we mover forward. He is greatly missed!
